OKMULGEE, Okla. – The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief James R. Floyd delivered the State of the Nation Address during the MCN National Council Quarterly Session on Jan. 27, 2018.
Floyd highlighted the Nation’s successes throughout the past year including healthcare, education and cultural preservation, as well as gave credit to the MCN employees and National Council for the overall improvements.
“Together we can say with renewed confidence that the State of our Nation is very strong and that we have put into place the plans to help continue to grow even stronger,” Floyd said.
Since Quarterly Reports are made available to all citizens and the public, Floyd shared personal success stories of Muscogee citizens rather than reporting facts and numbers during his address.
Floyd shared the stories of Muscogee citizens and recognized them for their accomplishments in 2017 with the assistance of MCN services such as Education and Training and the Eufaula Dormitory.
Floyd reported that the MCN Department of Health was able to restructure the loan at a lower interest rate for the Eufaula Clinic and the Creek Nation Community Hospital – Okemah.
Through additional efforts of the MCN DOH, the Nation was able to pay $20 million of the loan back through operating the healthcare facilities more efficiently.
